Volkswagen Rabbit hops on Playboy Bunny!

Volkswagen Rabbit on Playboy

Volkswagen wants to tickle your fancy – especially if you’re male and loves bunnies.

Kerri Martin, Director of brand innovation for Volkswagen of America, joined forces with Playboy magazine to create a sexy and playful advertisement for the September 2006 issue of Playboy magazine. The advertisement is a part of Volkswagen’s campaign to bring back the Volkswagen Rabbit in the U.S. and Canadian markets.

“The return of the Rabbit to the North American market has been extremely well received. The Playboy opportunity was a great chance to unite two famous and iconic brands”

Kerri Martin was quoted saying in news reports.

The back cover features the rear view of three Playboy bunnies including Holly Madison, Bridget Marquardt and Kendra Wilkinson, stars of E! Entertainment’s reality TV show “The Girls Next Door”. The main highlight of the ad is the Volkswagen Rabbit logo tattooed in the lower back of the sexy Playboy bunny cover girl, Holly Madison.

The September issue will be available in the second season of the show early this August.

MERCEDES spices up SLK-Class with red trims, more “throaty” sound

SLK280

Inside Line reports that German automaker Mercedes-Benz has unveiled a new sports package for its SLK Class, making it literally red-hot with red seatbelts, floor mats edged in red and red needles in the instrument cluster. The red cabin trim plays effective contrast to the black roof liner, black trim to the left and right of the steering wheel, and a carbon-look trim strip above the glove compartment.

But it’s not all about the looks though. As you would expect from a car by Mercedes-Benz, the new SLK package pays attention to performance in its lowered sport suspension with 18-inch wheels, a more beefy braking system with brake calipers bearing "Mercedes-Benz" lettering, and an AMG breakaway edge at the rear. On the SLK280 and SLK350, the company also offers a special sport air filter for a sexier, more "throaty" sound.

And how much will this “hotness” cost you? Mercedes says that the sports package, now available, will cost about $1,470-$2,060.

Looking For The Buried Volvo XC90?

Buried Volvo

Are you one of the thousands of people looking and searching the globe for the buried Volvo XC90?

Just in case you did not know, Volvo has started a multi-media treasure hunt as part of its support to the new Disney pirate movie, “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest”. And this treasure you would be searching for would be a Volvo XC90 which is one-of-a-kind. This, of course, could be considered quite a treasure. It would take you lots of efforts to create one like that by just sprucing up your vehicle with parts like Volvo hubcaps, mirrors, and weatherstripping from Auto Parts Fast.

The treasure map for such a hunt could be found through the various Volvo retailers in the country. Don’t worry. The treasure map is for free. Although you would have to go online at www.volvocars.us/thehunt to register for this hunt. You also would have to go through various challenges, clues, and puzzles that would prove to be quite an adventure.

Just recently, Volvo came out with a list of places where you should not look. The company has guaranteed that the pirate-themed Volvo XC90 would not be found in these places:

• Underneath the uprights of the Meadowlands Giants Stadium. The company is thinking that they might just find something previously buried there so they did not think of burying the vehicle there.

• Neverland. Middle Earth. Willie Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. Elizabethtown, Kentucky. The company claims that these might be good ideas to look for the buried XC90 but these just might be the wrong movie for it.

• Inside a huge Cracker Jack box. Just wondering how huge would the box be to contain the XC90.

• Pirates of the Caribbean Ride at Disneyland. Too obvious, the company states.

• Irv Gordon’s garage. Volvo is thinking that Gordon just might drive the car around so it would not be good to bury it in his garage.

Happy searching! Who knows? It just might be in your backyard.
